Equipment

  • 1 Glass jar with tight-fitting lid
  • 1 Fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth
  • 1 Clean, dark glass bottle or container for storage

Ingredients

Rosemary (choose one)

Add Your Carrier Oil (choose one)

Instructions

  • Sanitize the Jar: Allow the canning jar to boil in a saucepan for 10 minutes in order to kill bacteria.
  • Prepare the Rosemary: Wash and thoroughly dry 1 cup Fresh rosemary sprigs to remove any dirt or impurities.
  • Infusion Process: Place the clean 1 cup Fresh rosemary sprigs or 2 tbsp Dried rosemary leaves  in a clean, dry glass jar.
  • Add Carrier Oil: Pour 1 cup of carrier oil of your choice (such as 1 cup castor oil , 1 cup coconut oil, or 1 cup almond oil) over the rosemary sprigs until they are completely submerged.
  • Infusion Time: Seal the jar tightly and place it in a warm, sunny spot for about 2-4 weeks to allow the rosemary to infuse into the oil. Shake the jar gently every few days to help distribute the oils and enhance the infusion process.
  • Strain the Oil: After the infusion period, strain the oil using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the rosemary leaves. Squeeze out any excess oil from the rosemary to extract as much infused oil as possible.
  • Store Properly: Transfer the strained rosemary oil into a clean, dark glass bottle or container with a tight-fitting lid. Store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight to maintain its freshness and potency.
